Guild member Kadee Porter has had several quilt designs published in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, and her quilt “Lollipops” was a first-place winner in the 2025 Hoffman challenge. Kadee, an ACHD construction supervisor, has developed her own slow-stitch method. Using a 3D printer, she creates stamps that can be used to help you easily mark and cut out quilt pieces. A single stamp will transfer cutting lines, stitching lines, and registration marks for accuracy directly onto your fabric.
This class is designed for both beginning and accomplished hand stitchers. It will include tips on fabric selection; instruction and practice in hand stitching; and an opportunity to try out some of Kadee’s stamps to see whether this technique will become your new favorite! The class will focus on a very simple design selected to be approachable for beginners, but participants will also have the option of trying out Kadee’s “Lollipops” block design (shown here). if they feel confident in doing so.

Hand-piecing is a slow, satisfying way to create a quilt, one thoughtful stitch at a time. It’s the perfect take-anywhere project: cozy up in your easy chair, pass the time in a hospital waiting room, or stitch your way through planes, trains, and automobiles. Wherever you go, your quilting can come too!
The following will be supplied for use during class:

Ink Pad and Ink
Needles
Pins
Thread
Lemon Drop pattern
Students need to bring the following:
Scissors for cutting fabric and snipping thread
Thimble
Pincushion
Fabric requirements for finished size of 17-1/4” diameter quilt:
Light background fabric: 1/4 yard or fat quarter
Yellow fabric: 1/2 yard
Binding: fat quarter
Backing: 3/4 yard
Stamps and ink pads will be available for purchase; however, no purchase is required for class.
Lemon Drops is a round quilt that does not have any curved seams to sew.
Lollipops is an advanced project that will be demonstrated during the last hour of class. Students will have the option to take a pre-stamped block home to sew.
January 21st is the deadline to register for this class, and is also the final day to request a cancellation refund.
