ur Guild members enjoy sharing their finished quilts at our general meeting each month. Its a great time to check out color schemes, patterns that may interest you, and admire the work of our fellow artists!

    • Terri Curry made "A Bit of Fantasy" for a gift to her granddaughter-in-law who is a big Harry Potter fan.
    • "Spring Life" by Carol Tracy Mitchell was started from a BOM and grew. She used raw edge applique, embroidery and "quilt as you go."
    • Linda Murphy quilted this improvisational jacket that was made for her. The "pattern" is by Karen Eckmeier.
    • Peter's Garden was made by Barbara Smith following a Grace Errea sponsored by BBQ last spring. It is a birthday present for her daughter who enjoys small rabbits hopping around on campus.
    • Barbara Derby created Diamond Baskets to challenge herself. She added the applique then decided to piece 36 more diamonds for the border.
    • Pat Kluckhohn made "Animal Farm" from BBQ Quilter's Runway patterns. Each middle triangle in the Flying Geese has a fussy cut animal. She is waiting for a little one to come along to give it to him or her.
    • Jan Lundine was inspired to make her quilt by the sound of several Great Horned Owls. She designed it and this was the first time she used free motion quilting on a long arm. It is a birthday present for her husband.
    • Jalee Ogle made "Under the Caribbean" using Kaffe prints. Beautiful!
    • Sleeping With Geishas was made by Linda Jolly for a friend in memory of his father.
    • Jody Zanecki made Sasquash for her son-in-law. Big foot is his mascot! She created it using clip art and then quilted it.
    • Karen Falvey made Roundabout from a 2018 Stashbusters pattern. Great opportunity to use some fun prints she had around for years.
    • Rainforest Birds by Louise Maley was made from a pattern by Charlie Harper. He is an artist who paints birds as well as creates quilt patterns.
    • Janet Moats designed the fabric for her "Montana Wildflowers" quilt using her photographs and Adobe Photoshop. Then she uploaded to Spoonflower to be printed on ultra cotton fabric. Six family members have placed orders for this quilt!
    • Madeline Trainor made this sm. quilt for her front door. She appliqued it using an embroidery BOM by Kathy Schmitz.

    Show And Tell March 2019

    • Karen Falvey wanted to use up leftover blocks and fabric from a Downton Abbey Quilt. She started out with a table runner and ended up with a twin size bed quilt that will coordinate with a queen size quilt in their AirBnB.
    • Phyllis Kizer and Laura Lee each made a Two Fabric Bargello. They did the projects together and ended up with very different results. Beautiful!
    • An original quilt that Donna Swanson and her daughter, Lara, made at quilt camp in Cascade. It will be donated to Young Life in Ukraine this Spring when Donna and her husband, Tom, travel there. The Ukrainians grow sunflower seeds and was inspiration for the quilt.
    • The Dresden Plate is one of Barbara Smith's favorite blocks. Sunflower Garden is her first for 2019. She used a special ruler for this project. She will have more Dresden plate quilts to share in the future!
    • Amy Carter made "Reflections" as the 1st in a series of quilts this year. All women in beautiful dresses. This woman is reflecting on her life while looking at the moon's reflection. She used angelina fibers, paint, applique, thread painting with holographic and other threads.
    • Pat Kluckhohn made Night and Day Star from a BBQ Quilters Runway pattern on this website. It is paper pieced and will be donated by her church group to refugees living in Boise.
    • Tara Henderson made her Irish Table Topper using her Cricut Maker to cut the shamrocks. This is her first attempt at applique. Nice job Tara!
    • Ann Davis made Horsing Around using a kit from Prairie Girls Quilt Shop in Prineville OR. She recently bought a new sewing machine and applied new skills on this quilt for her daughter: ruler quilting, embroidery, stitch regulater, walking foot, applique and piecing.
    • The Maple Leaf pattern is from the August BBQ Quilters Runway pattern on this website. She paper pieced it from scraps in her stash. It will be donated by her church to refugees living in Boise.
    • "CleoCatra and Bark Antony" is an original design. Connie Emmen made is using machine applique, machine embroidery and freehand/free motion quilting. It will be donated to The Cat Doctor with proceeds from its sale going to support local cat rescue organizations.
    • Danielle Alba made this quilt for her husband's niece for her July wedding. She used a kit from Craftsy and is her largest project to date. This was her first time making star blocks and using free motion quilting. Her husband helped too. Lucky Bride!
    • Aleida Houdyshell made "Blueberry Hill" from a pattern in Keepsake Quilting magazine. She used up left over flannel from previous quilts. A warm and beautiful quilt for her husband when he takes his daily "power nap".

    Show And Tell February 2019

    • Esther Kleinkauf made Cattitude from the "Cats on Parade" pattern and these paisley cat panels that work so well in it.
    • Connie Buchanon made this lovely quilt from Laurel Burch fabrics to keep her warm in the Winter.
    • Connie Buchannon's "Eternal Spring" was made for when she is tired of Winter and have the hope of Spring.
    • Chris Klover had a lot of Australian fabrics and got to buy more to make this for a friend who lived in Australia while earning a Masters degree. It is a celebration quilt!
    • Aleida Houdyshell made this quilt after buying Missouri Star Block books at the BBQ book sale. This was the right pattern to use her left over fabric pieces.
    • Scott and Shelley Weigt made this raffle quilt for the National Federation of the Blind in Idaho. The pattern, "Diamonds and Arrowheads" is from Quilters Newsletter 6/2007 magazine. Stunning!
    • Blocks created in the 2019 Quilt of Valor Block Drive. More will be made at the Qov National Sew Day on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Idaho Sewing & Vacuum.
    • Connie Emmen made this quilt from a wallhanging that had been donated to QoV. She set it on point, added pieced setting triangles and borders. It will be donated to a local American service veteran to thank them for their service.
    • Mellissa Masters started "Around the Block" as an orginal table runner. She ended up with this beautiful throw!
    • Jude Reppell made "Flowers for Alexis", an original design. She designed, pieced, machine appliqued and machine quilted it for the daughter of one of her own children. Beautiful!
    • Joleen Graham hand quilted this treasure that was hand pieced by her husband's Grandmother Anna. She has had it since 1974. The Boise Peace Quilt Project helped her start the quilting about 10 years ago and she recently finished the quilting.
    • Joleen Graham was encouraged by a friend to put together her cute halloween witch blocks.
    • Jan Lundine made Batik Diamonds at the October 2018 BBQ Schoolhouse class with Donna Hale. She learned the "Quilt as you Go" method in a very fun class.

    Show and Tell – November 2018

    • Kathy made this quilt for her newest grandson, Paul Donovan Schloss. She teased his brother for months that the baby's name was going to be Bartholomew. It is machine appliqued and hand quilted. The pattern is "I love Dirt."
    • Darci made this quilt for her step-grand-daughter, Eleyna. It seems she kept trying to take her little baby brothers quilt - she liked the minkee on the back. Eleyna likes gray these days and Darci added a little variety.
    • Amy quilted the base of the quilt first. Then she couched threads on top and added felt balls for berries.
    • Monica's niece, Kim, picked the colors for her nursery. Monica and her twins went on a fabric hunt and made lots of half-Square triangle blocks and put it together. They got it done in time before they met baby Henry.

    Show and Tell – October 2018

    • Gail Vaughan made "Forest Friends" from a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. She substituted 2 blocks (the bunny and the deer) w/ designs by Lorna McMahan of Sew Fresh Quilts. The trees are her own design. She quilted it with leaves and flowers for her niece's new baby boy.
    • Marilyn Himes made and quilted "Bird Walk" from a Block of the Month Kit by Material Girls. She loves these batik fabrics. She found that some of the applique patterns were not the correct size - she was able to enlarge the pieces to the correct size and completed this stunner!
    • Marilyn Himes made and quilted "Abiding Faith" by Kim Diehl. She loves the finished product but learned that she does not enjoy very small piecing. And she learned that when trying a small-piece kit, she should NOT buy two more kits before finishing the first one!
    • Margie Braach made and quilted "Polka Dot Garden" from a pattern called "Stitcher's Garden." She had fun learning more about her sewing machine on the project such as its feed and stitches.
    • Margie Braach made "Tradewinds"with strips cut 7/8" wide to miniature the traditional pattern which used 2 1/2" strips.
    • Laura Lee made and quilted "Over Down Under" for her niece. She said "this pattern is lots of fun and takes a little planning." Her niece, Sadie, just graduated from Texas Christian Univ. and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marines.
    • Kathy England took a class in about 2010 on curved piecing using glue technique at Quilt Crossing. She finished the machine piecing quickly but just finished the HAND quilting this year.
    • Emily made her first quilt from Grandma Jill Nelson's stash. Emily selected the fabrics, arranged them, did a little sewing and a lot of pressing.
    • Jill Nelson will donate her "Star Spangled" Quilt of Valor. She bought the kit in Garden Valley several years ago.
    • Gerrie Thompson made and quilted Poison Green Baskets from "When the Cold Wind Blows" book. She said she used as many poison green fabrics that she could find. The original pattern had 300 baskets - she reached her limit at 72.
    • "Lollipop Hill" was made and quilted by Gerrie Thompson from a pattern by Reets Rags to Stitches. Gerrie made it to celebrate the birth of her first Grandson Brody Jon who turns 5 o Sept. 1.
    • "Shrines" is an original quilt made by Esther Kleinkauf. The 4 batik squares were made in 1993 at the Houston Quilt Show. Since then, she appliqued it twice and part of it was basted 3 times. She is adding more embellishments!

    Show and Tell – August 2018

    • Barbara Derby created "Fall Baskets" from Block of the Month basket blocks that she won many years ago. She quilted it on a long arm at Quilt Crossing - her first! The pattern is "Circle of Nine" by Janet Houts & Jean Ann Wright.
    • Barbara Derby made and quilted Zoo babies from a flannel panel from Quilt Expressions. A friend helped her cut it up and shared some fun fabrics.
    • Sharon Koelling made and quilted this braided Quilt of Valor. She loves making braids after piecing 180 inches of braid, she cut it into 10" squares for this quilt. She has 2 more similar tops at home ready for her to quilt.
    • Margie Braach made Leo's Quilt from the "Majestic Mtn" pattern from 3 Dudes Quilting. She used a rainbow jelly roll and completed it at a spring retreat. She will send it to her Grand Nephew, Leo.
    • Joleen Graham made her Snow Ball Quilt from the Book "A Quilt Cottage". It was quilted by Sister Chick's Quilt Shop. She received the quilt kit as a Christmas present a few years ago. It will be sent off to her Aunt Norma who is 93 years old.
    • Sharon & Granddaughter Alyssa Koelling made Rainbow Roosters together. Sharon had about 600 4" squares to use up. Alyssa chose the rainbow fabrics to use with the rooster and chicken tracks squares. Sharon says "One should not put a baby on this side of the quilt if you want the child to sleep - the back side is for sleeping."
    • Janet Moats made "Fruit is My Candy" after going to the Star Valley Quilt Show and an 8 hr training from Ricky Tims. She didn't use his exact kaleidoscope pattern but did follow his technique. Most of the quilt is in 15 year old fabric featuring various fruits.
    • Jan Lundine made her first Bargello Quilt in a class taught by Donna Hale. It was fun and addicting. She has several more "Bargellos" in the planning stages.
    • Donna Swanson made this Fall Quilt and quilted it on her long arm. She purchased it as a kit at a quilt shop in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Every fall, her husband helps hang it in their living area.
    • Donna Swanson made and quilted these wall hangings that hang in her home. "Window of Wonder" includes embroidered wheat stalks and thread painted sun rays. The 2nd quilt started with embroidered sunflowers and grew in rounds from there.
    • "Summertime Sampler" was made and quilted by Barb Williams from a pattern of the same name by Erica Kaprow. The top is all wool and the back and binding is cotton. It took a while to find the variety of wool used and about a year to complete the quilt.
    • Deb Smith made her Cat Quilt at a collage class at Quilt Expressions. It was the first time she had made a collage quilt, ever used a walking foot and first time she tried to quilt. It looks great Deb!
    • Deb Smith made this T-shirt quilt in a class at Quilt Crossing. She made the Idaho Vandal quilt for her niece.
    • "Butterflies" made & quilted by Janet Fishman, a Hoffman challenge finalist. Jacket traveled for 12 months and exhibited at Carnegie Museum.
