Description: This is a lecture and hands-on class focused on selection and preparation of garments, and design optionsfor making a memory quilt using clothing, such as T-shirts, sweats, polo shirts, printed and embroidered logos, using fusible interfacing and/or permanent adhesive.

Objective: During class students will:
Evaluate the garment for suitability, based on fiber, construction and types of deigns
Rough cut designs from garment saving scraps for testing
Choose and apply stabilizer
Determine basic size and layout of a quilt
Design the size and shape of the blocks
Trim the stabilized design

Supply List: Students will need to bring to class:
Machine, needles, bobbins, thread, fabric scissors, neutral thread, seam ripper
Rotary cutter and mat
12” Square quilters ruler
Up to 12 clean garments for practice in class
4 yards featherweight or lightweight fusible leave-in interfacing
Optional– spray fabric adhesive
