November 2017 Schoolhouse “Quilting the Landscape Quilt”

Carol Lohrenz

Instructor: Carol Lohrenz
Cost: $15
Time: 9am – 4pm
Location: Boise Rigging Supply, 6750 West Victory Road, Boise

“Wow! Thread and landscapes! Are we ever going to have fun!”

Maybe you have your landscape finished or maybe you have one in mind. You do not have to have it pieced for this class. But you must have a collection of the fabrics and the elements you wish to use!

We will make elements of a landscape that will be a valuable reference for future landscapes or art quilts. If you want to actually quilt your landscape you may, but the purpose of the class is learning about how to use threads for giving your landscapes detail and texture.
Prepare to have fun!

Supplies
– Fabric:
……… — Quilt sandwiches of many different green
……… — Quilt sandwiches of water and sky fabrics
……… — A bag of small scraps of batting, fabrics for trees
– Quilt top threads (40 wt): they don’t have to match exactly – lighter and darker threads make it more picturesque!
– Bobbin thread: To prepare, pre-load colors for your samples on bobbins;
……. Carol likes a matching 50 or 60 wt. thread in her bobbin for better tension, but you don’t have to run out and buy it all!
– Extra bobbins
– New sharp sewing machine needles
