January 2021 Schoolhouse ~ Janice Black “Deconstructed Piecing”

Janice Black

Instructor: Janice Teed Black
Date: Saturday, January 30
Time: 9am – 4pm
Location: Boise Rigging Supply, 6750 West Victory Road, Boise
Cost: $15

We’ll be practicing piecing without a pattern as we create a small “Little House in the Wonky Woods” quilt top! It may sound scary, but you’ll be surprised at how much fun it is to make familiar blocks freeform and then arrange them into a design of your own choice. The class will cover 3-5 designs that are easy to make using this technique, including two types of trees, a house, and a person. We’ll also go over a few other quilt ideas for this technique in case you love it and want to keep experimenting.

By the end of the day, you should have a whimsical quilt top that measures a little less than a square yard. It’s easy to add a border to turn this into a fun toddler-sized quilt.

The class will be held in the upstairs training room. Enrollment will be limited to allow for social distancing (one person per amply spaced table). Please wear a mask, and use good judgement in determining whether for you personally the risk of attending is worth the benefit.

To enroll, please send a check made out to BBQ (not Schoolhouse), as well as your preferred contact information, to Janice Black at 2303 Heights Dr., Boise, ID 83702 before January 23. If the class is already full or has been cancelled, you will be notified and your payment will be returned. Please feel free to contact Janice at schoolhouse@boisebasinquilters.org (phone 208-340-7115) if you have additional questions.”
