Having professionally certified judges at our show brings it to a distinct level. Getting a beautiful ribbon for your work is really an exhilarating moment for a quilter. There are several special awards from sponsors outside the guild. The winners are chosen by three categories of people: our two certified judges by the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges (NACQJ), a committee of representatives chosen by a sponsor, and the quilt show attendees.

The Nita Sale award is for best hand quilting and is chosen by our certified judges, Kathie Kerler (kathiekerler.com/about-Kathie) and Linda Rasmussen (www.ljrasmussen.com). They also choose best machine quilting in three categories: stationary machine, track mounted machine, and computer generated machine. They also choose a personal favorite each and the NACQJ sponsors a special merit award chosen by our judges.
The Camille Morris award is sponsored and chosen by The Cotton Club. This award is usually the best use of stripes and plaids, but they may choose something else if they feel there is no viable candidate with their criteria. The Gloria Ostrander-Dykstra award is chosen by representatives of PieceWorks! Their award is for a best group quilt. For 2017, the Treasure Valley Applique Society is sponsoring a ribbon for the best applique in honor of Mary Lou Queen. Non-judged quilts in the Exhibit Only category can also vie for these awards.
Special awards that are not professionally judged are the Viewers’ Choice Awards chosen by the quilt show attendees as well as one specifically for our Youth Category.
