SUMMARY:EPP vs FPP: The Showdown by Tina Craig 03/18/27
DESCRIPTION:English Paper Piecing or Foundation Paper Piecing? What’s the difference? What are the pros and cons of each technique? Which technique is your favorite? \nWe will try to answer these questions as Tina shares dozens of quilts. One quilt from each technique will battle head-to-head and you will vote for your favorites in each round. At the end\, we will tally up the votes and declare a winner! \nTina Craig enrolled in a beginner sampler quilt class at a Connecticut quilt shop in 1990 and was instantly hooked. Before that first Christmas wall hanging was completed\, she already had several other projects started! She encourages her students to try new techniques\, as those new skills can open up a world of possibilities. Her favorite classes to teach are English Paper Piecing and Domestic Machine Quilting. Tina was featured in Quiltfolk magazine issue 25\, Rhode Island. Watch her demos on TheQuiltShow.com episode 3705 and listen to her conversation with Brandy Maslowski on the Quilter on Fire podcast episode 259. When not in her sewing room\, she and her husband enjoy bird watching and traveling to visit their children and grandsons. Tina’s website is https://seaside-stitches.com/

SUMMARY:Fabric Collage - What It's all About! by Jane Haworth Program Zoom 04/15/2027
DESCRIPTION:You will learn the essentials of creating your own fabric collage quilt; from making an enlarged pattern suitable for collage\, the types of fabric and tools needed and her collage technique using glue. Whether you’re new to fabric collage or looking to refine your skills\, this lecture will inspire you to experiment and bring your own vision to life in fabric. \nWe will also learn more about Janes creative journey—from her early fish quilts to evolving themes and her latest collage pieces. \nJane Haworth is a self-taught quilter who draws inspiration from photos\, her love of color and pattern and the natural world. Her vibrant quilts are approachable for beginners\, with techniques that are both relaxing and addictive and have been exhibited in shows across the U.S.\, reflecting her storytelling through fabric. Jane teaches nationally and internationally including IQF Houston and Empty Spools Seminars. She has appeared on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show (May 2025). Her book\, Capture Your Own Life with Collage Quilting (Landauer Publishing)\, was released in Fall 2023. \nJane will be here in Boise to teach in-person fabric collage workshops on Thursday\, 4/22 – 4/24/27. SUMMARY:From Maker to Mentor - Dianne Kane Program 05/20/2027
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an enlightening evening learning how to share our quilting skills with others. \nDianne Kane has a Masters in Adult Education and has presented numerous seminars on improving your teaching techniques. Her Train the Trainer sessions incorporate a one-on-one method as well as teaching to a group. \n As quilters\, it’s up to us to share our passion with upcoming generations. Mentoring another comes in many forms. \nFrom Maker to Mentor: Effective Teaching Strategies\nEvery skilled quilter has a wealth of knowledge to share\, but transforming your personal passion into an engaging class requires a different set of tools. This one-hour lecture is designed to transition you smoothly from a solo maker into an inspiring mentor. You will discover how to present quilting techniques while creating an encouraging environment where every student can thrive. \nThe session utilizes the proven Prepare\, Present\, Practice\, and Perform training framework to structure your future trainings for maximum success. First\, we will explore the Prepare stage\, focusing on how to set clear learning objectives and organize your materials before students arrive. Next\, we will cover the Present phase\, teaching you how to visually and verbally demonstrate techniques. \nThe final portion of the lecture tackles the hands-on dynamics of a quilting workshop through the Practice and Perform stages. You will learn how to effectively support students during their independent Practice time\, offering constructive feedback without taking over their sewing machines. Finally\, we will discuss how to guide students to Perform\, ensuring they leave your session with the independence\, confidence\, and skill to complete their quilt projects at home.
