Welcome to the Boise Basin Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show page. The Boise Basin Quilters’ Guild (BBQ) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) established for the purpose of promoting awareness, education and the preservation of the quilting arts. Our annual quilt show is a primary fundraiser for supporting various BBQ programs that, in turn, support multiple community programs. More information about the programs supported by the Guild can be found HERE.
Boise Basin Quilters Guild’s annual quilt show showcases hundreds of quilts and exhibits. Come see the professionally judged quilts, shop for gifts & quilting supplies, collect your free door prize & enter for a chance to win our beautiful raffle quilt! The quilt show promotes awareness, education, and preservation of the quilting arts, supports the Boise Basin Quilters Guild’s community outreach projects, and supports our local quilt shops and vendors.
Each year, we try to provide a wonderful and unique experience. In addition to the traditional styles that have become treasured classics, the quilts submitted each year also include many that are more contemporary, edgier, and artsier than we have seen in years past. We had over 1,500 visitors during our 2019 show. Below are some of the activities of this year’s show. Feel free to visit often, sign up for our free newsletter or like us on Facebook. We hope you and your friends will attend the show this year and check out the diverse fiber art form that quilting has become.
Quilt Entries – Our annual quilt show is the largest professionally judged quilt show in Idaho with traditional, modern, and art quilts. Our show is open to adults and youths with entrants vying for prizes in various categories. In 2019, we had 190 quilts and awarded more than $3,000. In addition, there are special awards. Every quilt entered is a treasure! Showcase your quilt in one of the following divisions: Adult, Youth, Small Group Quilt Challenge, or Display Only. Click HERE for information and forms.

Tickets are $2 for one or a book of 3 for $5 and can be purchased at any guild meeting or from a guild member.
Featured Quilt Artist – Linda Dixon is this year’s Featured Quilt Artist. Click HERE to read about Linda and see photos of her studio and several of her quilts on the Featured Quilt Artist page.
Gift Garden – Our Gift Garden is a marketplace for all quilters (quilt guild members and non members) to offer quality pieces of work for sale at reasonable prices. In addition to quilts, you can find many hand-made items just in time for holiday shopping! Click HERE for information about our Gift Garden and how to become a vendor.
Merchant Mall Vendors – Find all your essential quilting supplies, sewing machines, patterns, fabric, and notions at the Merchant Mall. Some vendors include local quilt shops and others are vendors who make their merchandise available only at shows. In 2019, we had a total 40 local and national vendors. A list of our current vendors can be found HERE. If you are a quilting-related business or service and would like to learn more about becoming a vendor during our show, please click HERE to find more information on the Merchant mall page. .
Demonstrations – Several of our vendors provide 20-minute presentations on new and exciting techniques and products throughout the two-day event.
Silent Auction – Throughout the year, members make themed quilt blocks to be auctioned off at the Show. In many cases, there will be enough blocks to finish a quilt top! Participants bid on these blocks throughout the event and the final bidding stops Saturday at 4:30 pm.
Live Exhibit – Bed Turning – For those who are not familiar, a Bed Turning is a live exhibit used to tell the stories of historic quilts. In the past, quilters would gather at someone’s home and bring a quilt to share. They would lay them all out on a bed, stacked one on top of the other. Each quilter would take a turn to display and tell the story of their quilt. Our exhibit will feature many different historic quits and stories in the style of a traditional Bed Turning.
Quilts of Valor Presentation – Locally handmade red, white, and blue quilts are presented to local American service personnel and veterans to thank them for their military service. The formal presentation will be held on Friday at 3:30 pm.
BBQ Quilt Show Volunteers Needed – We have a number of opportunities for BBQ members to volunteer to help with the upcoming Quilt Show. We have a new electronic feature that makes it very easy to sign up for the time and day of your choice. Click HERE to choose the date, time and task you would like to volunteer. We look forward to seeing you at these activities and very much appreciate your volunteering!
