COMMUNITY SERVICE

Boise Public Library

As part of our educational outreach to the community, each month one of our members loan a large quilt to the Boise Public Library (downtown) for display behind their checkout counter.  This includes a short description and contact information for the Guild to promote awareness of the art and craft.

Moda's "Just One Star"

Members of our Guild contributed 60 blocks to Moda's "Just One Star" challenge. Moda challenged individuals, quilt groups, and guilds to submit 1,800 star blocks. Moda staff and designers pieced the blocks together using the Flag of Valor pattern, quilted, and bound the quilts. The blocks and quilts were coordinated through the Semper Fi Fund, to comfort the brave men and women who are injured in the line of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as they fight for our nation's freedom and security.

Christmas Stockings for Marines Serving Overseas

The BBQ Board of Directors agreed at their August 2011 meeting to continue this annual service project.

Thanks to our generous and creative members, more than 736 stockings were sent to the Marine Corps Family Foundation (MCFF) in 2011.  MCFF coordinates this national effort.  MCFF volunteers will fill the stockings with goodies and mail them to soldiers serving overseas to cheer them up through the holidays.

This web site contains information about the foundation

Click the Instructions and Pattern link below for how to print the pattern and make the stockings.

Before printing the pattern, make sure your Print Option for Page Scaling is set to None or Print to Page.  If not, the pattern will print within your page margins and the stockings will be too small.  Then trace the printed pattern on an old file folder or a larger piece of paper and add a 1/4 inch seam allowance on all sides, the top, and bottom.
